Right. There it is. My new baby. Back from my luthier Ronny that did some work on it.
As the observant reader might have noticed: It’s a Les Paul. But it’s one with a twist. Regular Paulas have 2 Humbuckers, one under the neck and one at the bridge. This one has a third in between, and its gonna have its own volume control, so that you can add that signal to the 3 regular Paula pick up configurations.
The body looks awesome. I think the Les Paul has the perfect shape for a solid body electrical guitar, and this one has some nice maple veneer.
Look at the flame on that wood. Hot damn, not bad for a 99€ kit I got from eEay. I’m gonna tickle that out with black dye some more and then give it a translucent blue or dragon burst finish. Wish me luck.
The headstock looks tiny.
It came with a flat line on top, so that you can shape it into your own design, but since I don’t have the right saw to do that anyways I told Ronny to just carve out the classic Gibson open book look and I have to say he did a fine job.
The neck goes on so much smoother than on the Strat that I build last.
Yeah. It’s a bolt on neck, not set like a real Les Paul. But hey, the bolt ons are easier to fix once I bash this thing on the ground from frustration cause I can’t learn how to play like Jimmy Page in one night.
One thing worries me though.
That’s a big gap between the body and the neck. When i asked Ronny he said thats fine because its not set, and that we can’t do much about that. I was hoping that the plastic cases from the pick ups would bridge that, but no luck there…
Anyways. Once I get my next salary I might be able to afford the dyes. Can’t wait!
